The Rhythm on the River Concert Series is a summer concert
series sponsored
by the Historical Society of Grand
Rapids, Ohio. These concerts are presented
free to the public at the Wright Pavilion. Bring a chair or

Angela Tonjes
Angela
is an accomplished harpist who graduated from
Napoleon
High School
. She
started her musical journey as a pianist and church
organist. She
is currently the worship and music coordinator/organist
at
Emanuel
Lutheran
Church
in Napoleon and teaches 18 students in her home.
She started studying the harp in 2007, and now
performs on that instrument on a regular basis.

Vocalist
Joe
Barton is a native of
Grand Rapids
and is a graduate of
Otsego
High School. He has
been active in all facets of theatre since high school
and has performed directed, choreographed or produced
nearly 100 productions.
He has been Director of Theatre at
Springfield
High School
for ten years, and has also been active with numerous
community theatre groups in the
Toledo
area including the Black Swamp Players, Oregon Community
Theatre, and the Village Players.
He works full-time as Manager of Kostumes, Ltd.,
in Holland,
Ohio

THE NORTH
COAST BIG BAND
Jazz * Swing Music * Big Band Sound
The Big Band is part of every concert performed by the
North Coast Concert Band during the regular concert
season. The
North Coast Big Band has its own summer concert season
and plays for private events such as dances and
receptions throughout the year.
The repertoire has grown from five borrowed
pieces to over 200 charts and includes traditional big
band music popularized by the bands such as those led by
Glenn Miller, Artie Shaw, Count Basie, and Duke
Ellington, along with jazz arrangements and classic rock |

Organizations
The
Otsego Show Choir and Otsego High School Band always
present the final program of the Series, and it is
always one that draws a crowd.
The choirs and band consistently earn superior
ratings at Ohio Music Educators’ Association
competitions. These
two fine musical organizations are under the direction
of Janine Baughman and Richard Dubler.
