The Council of The Village of Grand Rapids convened in regular session from 7:30 P.M. to 8:30 P.M. in the Grand Rapids Town Hall. Mayor Judy Keifer called the meeting to order with the following members and visitors present:

Carolyn Erdody - Present
Linda Hall - Present
William Hutchison - Present
Sara Lewis - Present
Curt Williams -Present

EMPLOYEES: Karen Rader, Chad Hoffman

VISITORS: John Berry

NEW YEAR BUSINESS:
Mayor Keifer swore in Carolyn Erdody, Curt Williams, and Sara Lewis as new Council Members.

Hall made a motion, seconded by Erdody to appoint John Berry to the vacant seat on Council.

Votes were: Lewis - aye Hall - aye
Williams - aye Erdody - aye
Hutchison -aye

BERRY APPOINTED

Mayor Keifer swore in John Berry to fill the vacant Council Seat.

Council drew seats for 2010 -
1) Hutchison 2) Hall 3) Erdody 4) Lewis 5) Williams 6) Berry

Hall made a motion, seconded by Erdody to appoint John Berry President of Council.

Votes were: Hall - aye Williams - aye
Erdody - aye Berry - aye
Hutchison - aye Lewis - aye

BERRY APPOINTED

MINUTES:
Erdody made a motion, seconded by Williams, to approve the Minutes of the December 14, 2009 meeting as submitted.

Votes were: Berry - aye Hutchison - aye
Lewis - aye Hall - aye
Williams - aye Erdody - aye

MINUTES APPROVED

BILLS:
Erdody made a motion, seconded by Hutchison, to pay the bills from January 1 through January 11, 2010.

Votes were: Hutchison - aye Lewis - aye
Hall - aye Williams - aye
Erdody - aye Berry - aye

BILLS APPROVED

MAYOR'S REPORT:
The Mayor gave 2010 Committee Assignments. A copy is attached to the official minutes.

Berry was asked to make monthly committee reports to Council from the NW Ambulance District.

Trick-or-Treat is scheduled for Saturday October 30 from 5:00 - 6:30 pm with the parade at 7:00 pm.

ADMINISTRATOR'S REPORT:
Hoffman gave his report. A copy is attached to the official minutes. Hoffman notified Council that the trash cans have been shipped.

FISCAL OFFICER'S REPORT:
Rader distributed the December 2009 Bank Reconciliation, Fund Status, and the Supplemental Appropriation reports to Council prior to the meeting. She gave the Revenue Status and Appropriation Status reports to the new Finance Committee members during the meeting.

SHERIFF'S REPORT:
The Deputy gave his report.

COMMUNICATIONS:
The Mayor read a letter from the Board of Commissioners regarding advertisement on their web site. Rader will take care of getting the events together and submitted.

She also read a letter from a Grelton resident regarding the state of the Village Sidewalks. Rader will forward the letter to the Sidewalk Committee.

UNFINISHED BUSINESS:
Hall asked if the Village had sent a thank you for the donated benches. Williams reported that the clothing drive had over 60 families participate.

COMMENTS:
The Mayor advised Council stated that the Fostoria Mayor will be in front of the Town Hall at noon Wednesday to make an announcement.
Erdody commented on how well the Village is doing with keeping the finances under control.

Erdody mentioned the need to get someone on the Town Hall Board of Control as soon as possible. The Mayor also asked for regular reports from the Board of Control meetings.

Hutchison made a motion, seconded by Erdody, to adjourn.

The meeting was adjourned. The next scheduled meeting is January 25, 2010 at 7:30 P.M. at the Grand Rapids Town Hall.
