The Council of The Village of Grand Rapids convened in regular session from 7:30 P.M. to 8:25 P.M. in the Grand Rapids Town Hall. Mayor Judy Keifer called the meeting to order with the following members and visitors present:

Bill Hutchison - Present  Linda Hall - Present
Carolyn Erdody - Present  Sara Lewis - Present
Curt Williams - Present John Berry - Present

EMPLOYEES: Chad Hoffman, Karen Rader

VISITORS: Martin Nagy, Butch Cox

MINUTES:
Williams made a motion, seconded by Erdody to accept the Minutes of the August 9, 2010 meeting as submitted.

Williams - yes  Berry - yes  Hutchison - yes

BILLS:
Erdody made a motion, seconded by Williams, to approve the bills from August 10 thru August 23, 2010.

Berry - yes Hutchison - yes Hall - yes

INTRODUCTION OF VISITORS:
Butch Cox - questioned when the trees out front were going to be trimmed and if there was anything that could be done about speed through the alleys.

Martin Nagy (Chamber of Commerce) - requesting use of public property for the annual Canal Days event to be held Sept 11-12.

Erdody made a motion, seconded by Hutchison, to accept the application for Canal Days by the Chamber of Commerce on September 11-12th with no fire pits and the placement of No Parking signs along the canal.

MAYOR'S REPORT:
The Applebutter Fest Safety meeting is going to be September 15th at 7:00 pm at the Fire Hall.

ADMINISTRATOR'S REPORT:
The Administrator gave his report. A copy will be attached to the official minutes.

After discussion of the bridge options, Erdody made a motion, seconded by Williams, that we go ahead and have the bridge repaired at approximately $7500.00 not including paint cost.

The Administrator advised Council that the brush chipper can be repaired in house, however, since the parts haven't arrived yet, there will be no brush pick up on September 6th.

READING OF COMMUNICATIONS:
The Mayor read a letter from the Board of Education inviting all to the ground breaking ceremony for the new Pk-5 building on August 27th at 9:30 am.

ORDINANCES:
Fiscal Officer gave a second reading for 2010-05 AN ORDINANCE ACCEPTING ANNEXATION OF THE JEFFERS PROPERTY GENERALLY KNOWS AS 23439 ST. RT. 65 RECENTLY APPROVED BY THE BOARD OF WC COMMISSIONERS, AND ESTABLISHING INTERIM ZONING OF R-1 FOR SAID PROPERTY

UNFINISHED BUSINESS:
Erdody asked for permission for the Town Hall rental/application to be placed on the Village web site along with information on the Town Hall. Council agreed.

After discussion on the 2000 pick-up, Erdody made a motion, seconded by Hutchison, to accept the purchase of a new replacement truck for the 2000 pick-up truck for approximately $18,000.00.

Berry questioned removing the dead bushes along Rita's. Williams made a motion, seconded by Lewis, to trim back the bushes by Rita's to three feet high.

NEW BUSINESS:
Erdody requested that the Lincoln Street restrooms remain open 24 hours during Friday and Saturday of Canal Days event is being held. Erdody agreed to make sure that the restrooms are maintained. Council agreed.

COMMENTS:
Council commented on how nice the fence at Blue Bell looks.

The Mayor read a letter of resignation from Linda Hall. Erdody made a motion, seconded by Lewis, to accept Linda's resignation with heavy heart.

Resignation Accepted

The Fiscal Officer was asked to post for an open seat.

The meeting was adjourned. The next scheduled meeting is September 13, 2010 at 7:30 P.M. at the Grand Rapids Town Hall.
