AN ORDINANCE TO REQUEST AUDITOR
TO ASSESS LOTS AND LANDS OF THE VILLAGE OF GRAND RAPIDS FOR THE LIGHTING
OF STREETS,
ALLEYS, WAYS AND OTHER PUBLIC PLACES
SECTION 1: BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE VILLAGE OF GRAND
RAPIDS that the cost and expense of the lighting of the streets,
alleys, ways, and other places in the Village of Grand Rapids and the
furnishing of electrical energy, therefore for the tax year 2011 be paid
for by special assessment upon the lots and lands as listed on the real
estate duplicate within the Village of Grand Rapids, and that for such
purpose there be levied and assessed according to valuation for a total
amount of $14,200, for the full year, payable in two equal installments,
and that the County Auditor be certified to place this assessment upon
the tax duplicate and collected as other taxes.
SECTION 2: That this ordinance is an emergency measure
necessary for the immediate preservation of the public peace, health and
safety, and shall go into effect upon the passage thereof and approval
by the Mayor. The reason for the emergency is that it is urgently
necessary to provide this information to the County Auditor so that
proper tax assessments may be made and the money be available for street
lighting purposes.
