RESOLUTION DETERMINING TO PROCEED TO SUBMIT TO THE
ELECTORS OF THE VILLAGE OF GRAND RAPIDS THE QUESTION OF
A RENEWAL OF A TAX IN EXCESS OF THE 10 MILL LIMITATION
FOR THE PURPOSE OF PROVIDING 2.0 MILLS FOR GENERAL
CONSTRUCTION; RECONSTRUCTION, RESURFACING, AND REPAIRS
OF STREETS AND BRIDGES IN THE VILLAGE OF GRAND RAPIDS.
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE VILLAGE OF GRAND RAPIDS:
SECTION 1: That for the purpose of providing additional funds
for general construction, reconstruction, resurfacing, and repairs of streets
and bridges in the Village of Grand Rapids, it is necessary to approve the
renewal of a 2.0 mills tax on each dollar of tax valuation of the taxable
property within the Village of Grand Rapids, Ohio, and that it is necessary to
levy said tax outside of the limitations imposed by Section II, Article XII of
the Ohio Constitution, and that said additional tax request shall be submitted
to the electors of the Village of Grand Rapids at the primary election to be
held on the first Tuesday of March, 2012, in order that said tax levy shall be
placed on the duplicate effective January 1, 2012, and collected on and after
January 1, 2013 and thereafter for a total of five years.
SECTION 2: That the fiscal officer of the
Village is hereby directed to certify a copy of this Resolution to proceed to
the Auditor of the County and to the Director of the Wood County Board of
Elections all as required by the Ohio Revised Code.
SECTION 3: This Resolution shall take effect at the
earliest time permitted by law.
